3 Ingredient Football Cheese Ball
My favorite big-game cheese ball tastes great. It’s also easy to make. My husband’s mother taught me how to make it when I was still a young bride. Don’t let the simplicity fool you- the men in my family love it.
Ingredients:
3 8 ounces bars of cream cheese
3 small packages of beef lunch meat- the beef looks more like the color of a football than the ham or turkey
1 bunch of green onions
Directions:
Let the cream cheese get to room temperature. I usually take mine out of the fridge, unwrap it, and let it set in the bowl for a bit. Put some cream cheese aside to do the laces on the football. I forgot to put mine aside until after I added the green onions. Sigh.
Slice 4 or 5 green onions, and mix them into the cream cheese. The green onions are the secret of the great flavor in this cheese ball.
Form the cream cheese mixture into a football shape, then put it on a beautiful platter.
Chop the beef, then gently press it onto the outside of your cream cheese football. Make sure most of the cream cheese is covered.
Now it’s time to add the laces. First I tried to put the cream cheese in an icing decorator bag, and squeeze it onto the football. That didn’t work out at all! The cream cheese mixture was too thick (maybe the green onions were part of the problem as well).
Roll the cream cheese on a non-stick surface (I used parchment paper) until you get a nice “snake,” small enough to serve as laces. This method worked much better than the icing bag.
You’re done! Surround your 3 Ingredient Football Cheese Ball with crackers. I used Walmart’s version of Wheat Thins.
May your food be great, and may your team win. I am pulling for the Rams, since my team, and my husband’s team, are both out of the race.
Have a Great Week!

I was looking at that icing bag and thinking, “Uhhh, I don’t know.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put away the bag and found another way but that speaks more to my lack of piping skills. Is it corned beef or roast beef you’re using? I think both would work. I bet this cheese ball was a lot better than the Super Bowl. Your post is perfect for my link up since I’m trying to get good recipes with cheese on there. Stop by if you get a chance.
