Make A Cozy Hot Cocoa Nook

I had a great time making my first EVER hot cocoa nook. I didn’t think I could make a Cozy Hot Cocoa Nook in my house, because our kitchen is small. However, I put some things away, rearranged the small appliances, and cleared out an entire corner for this FUN project.

The first priority was choosing a theme. I thought about doing snowmen, but decided to save that for the long, sad winter months after Christmas. Ultimately, I chose a Santa Claus theme embellished with red and white gingham and candy cane ribbon.

I wanted to include vintage dish eye-candy in my nook. Milk and cranberry glass are two of my favorite types of vintage glass, and go well with the red and white theme.

Everything was anchored with an Indiana (Colony) Harvest Milk Glass round chop platter and a Mikasa two-tiered Christmas Story tidbit tray (It is sitting on a Savannah Anchor Hocking cake plate).

I loaded my tidbit tray with hot cocoa, and topped it with a wood slice sign I made using my new wood burner (tutorial to come in a later post). Last, but not least, I added an adorable  Annalee Elf. She is the perfect hostess for the Cozy Hot Cocoa Nook.

I filled an Indiana Harvest Compote with frasier fir sprigs, cranberries, holly, orange slices, bay leaves, nutmeg, and cloves. You can access more potpourri recipes here.

Just before you “open” your hot cocoa bar, you can microwave the potpourri for 60 seconds to get those spicy holiday smells wafting all through the house.
I found a perfect set of chalkboard style ornaments and used them to adorn my Cameo Compote. I’m enamored with all the chalkboard-style decor available in the stores this year!

I found some gorgeous Threshold Santa and Mrs. Claus Classic Wreath coffee mugs at Target. I must admit I don’t use vintage coffee mugs. I need a 16 oz capacity to accommodate the large button on my Keurig! Get your own here. I bought the candy canes and copper blush plastic spoons at Michaels Craft Store.

My youngest daughter was the first customer at the Cozy Hot Cocoa Nook. She said we needed some whipped topping. I think I’m gonna keep this nook open all winter long. I can change the theme for each winter holiday.
