The finished DIY Silver Plaid Christmas Wreath

Take the Little Plaid Cottage Christmas Tour here

We took a wooden grapevine wreath and painted it with silver spray paint.

It takes the flocked pine cones about 30 minutes to dry.

I used a dinner fork, a serving fork, and a spatula to size the pom poms.

Wrap the yarn around the forks, tie off the middle, and cut the ends.

I used a spatula to make the biggest pom poms.

Step 3
Make a plaid bow. There are more complicated ways to make bows, but I chose the simple way pictured below. I also trimmed the ends short, because I didn’t like the way the long ends looked on the wreath. Attach the bow with wire. Twist the ends of the wire, then clip off the excess. You can use the wire attached to the bow to make a little loop for hanging, if needed.

Make a little loop of fabric in the center of the bow, then run 8″ of floral wire through the loop. Tie it in a knot in the back, and leave the long ends to attach the bow to the top of the wreath.

Fluff and straighten the bow until you achieve the desired shape.

Tie the bow to the top of the wreath. I didn’t like the way these long ribbon ends looked on the wreath, so I trimmed them short later.

I tied each pinecone tightly to the wreath, and made a hard knot.

DIY Pom Pom

Tie the pom poms to the wreath with the long strings of yarn used to tie the pom poms in the middle.

Trim the bow, hang your Silver Plaid Christmas Wreath, and enjoy!

Congratulations on your Woman’s Day online feature for your wonderful wreath ~ how exciting!
Cute idea! I love the plaid and the flocked pinecones. Thank you for sharing the tutorial! I’m visiting from the Party in Your PJs linkup today. Have a great day Kristie!
Thank you for the encouragement, Marielle! I’m so happy that you dropped by to see my wreath.
I love making my own wreaths too. The yarn pom poms are just adorable and thanks for the quick tutorial on making them. I tend to struggle with that. Pinned.
I know what you mean, Joanne!
Kristie, your grapevine wreath turned out stunning ! Totally loving it.
Thank you for sharing at Meraki Link Party.

Thanks, girl.
Pretty, the sparkly yarn really gives it something special.
Thank you! I think so too.
This is darling and could easily transition right into winter decor after Christmas. Congratulations on the feature.
Yes, I think it’s a good transitional piece as well.
