This Fuchsia Coffee Cup Painting is the first in my new Morning Coffee series. I plan to feature favorites from my coffee mug collection in different settings. The fuchsia mug is brightly colored and glossy. All of the mugs I use reguIarly are 15 ounces or more. If it’s little, I’m not gonna buy it unless it’s vintage. Then, I brew my coffee in a big cup and fill the little mug up two times. A good rule of thumb for an artist is to paint/draw/make only what you love.
I look forward to that first cup of coffee every morning. First I choose the k-pod flavor, the coordinating creamer, and the perfect mug. Then, I listen to the chug-chug brewing sound as I anticipate that first sip.
I have a wicker egg chair on my side porch. I love to sit in it and read and drink coffee on sunny mornings. Painting the wicker would have been enjoyable, but I liked the way the wood of the porch and the tree-lined horizon looked in the 2nd picture a little bit better. Dunkin Donuts is my favorite place to buy coffee. Ironically, I was drinking a Starbucks k-pod flavor- Honey and Madagascar Vanilla- from my favorite Dunkin cup. I decided not to paint the logo. If I choose to use it as an art print on a t-shirt, I will run into licensing issues if I keep the Dunkin name, like I did with a Hello Kitty sweatshirt last fall.
