I made this Hand Painted Pilgrim Sign for our new house because we are moving in just before Thanksgiving. We are decorating our Charleston-style home with an Industrial/Midcentury vibe, but I’m also throwing in a travel theme. Doesn’t that sound fun? Since the Pilgrims were the ultimate travelers, I wanted to paint a vintage-style travel plaque showcasing their three-masted boat and ocean view.
Can you imagine arriving in Cape Cod in November? I’m sure the weather was freezing. There were no restaurants, hotels, outlet malls, or amusement parks to welcome them. They sacrificed everything for the freedom to worship the Lord in the way they thought best. Not one person boarded the Mayflower when they had the chance to go back to England, even though half of the passengers died that first winter. I think about their courage every November.

Thank you for sharing Thanksgiving. My pet peeve is jumping from Halloween to Christmas and the holiday that is just to be thankful gets lost in the shuffle. I appreciate this. Thanks for sharing at My Big Fat Menopausal Life’s Share the Wealth Party! Hope to see you at the next one too. Happy Halloween!
Thanks for the encouragement, Helen!
