Our 10 pound Morkie (Maltese +Yorkie) loves Halloween. He starts barking from excitement way before we leave, then strains at the leash as we go from house to house trick-or-treating. Last year he had a Spooky Loofa Dog Halloween Costume. This year I made him a Haunted House Dog Halloween Costume so that we could continue the spooky dog theme. I found a Poop Factory Dog Costume tutorial from another blogger and followed her instructions because both costumes used boxes as a base. Be sure to read my Tips and Notes at the end of this post before you make the costume.
Instructions for Haunted House Dog Halloween Costume

Tips and Notes
As I stated earlier, I followed the instructions of a fellow blogger. In the pictures, her dog looks a lot calmer than mine. If I had to do it over again, I would super glue and sew the ribbons to the box. Elastic might work even better. Another idea is to sew two cardboard or foam haunted house silhouettes to a baby onesie. I used a onesie for the Spooky Loofa Halloween Dog Costume and it stayed put all night. Hercules is rambunctious. His body movements kept pulling the stapled ribbon right out of the box. Costume failure and making repairs is not fun on Halloween night! Also, I would suggest cutting the part that fits over his body into a slight arc so that it stays in place and fits more snuggly. When I read a recipe, I always look at the comments and reviews to see what worked and what didn’t. Put the leash or harness on first!

Happy Halloween,
