I’ve had this Inspirational Art Studio Tree in the works for a while. I finally finished it on Easter Sunday. This little 24″ tree is lighted, with bendable branches. It is also portable and battery operated, so there are no unsightly cords involved. It can be moved around easily and decorated for all the seasons. What a fabulous, versatile piece for my studio!

Materials Needed for the Inspirational Spring Art Studio Tree
- 24″ lighted, battery operated birch tree
- 5 clear plastic ornaments
- 15 styrofoam bird eggs– Make sure they are small enough to fit through the ornament opening.
- sheer ribbon
- wired jute
- raffia ribbon
- spring paint colors
- liner brush
- Liquitex varnish
- pinking sheers
Instructions for the Inspirational Spring Art Studio Tree
Remove the lid/hanger from the top of the ornaments. Brush a little bit of Liquitex varnish on the front of each ornament so that your painted letters will stick. You could also use multisurface paint, Sharpie pens, or leave this step out altogether if you aren’t worried about the letters rubbing or wearing off. I used a different spring paint color and the liner brush to paint Renew, Vibe, Grow, Spring, and Bloom.
Fold the wired jute into an oval shape and push it through the ornament opening, then add a few pieces of raffia to finish the “nest.” Next, push three different colored styrofoam eggs in on top of the jute and raffia.
Cut the sheer ribbon into 10″ strips with the pinking sheers. If you cut the ends into a downward triangle shape, the ribbon will be nicely finished. Sheer ribbon tends to fray. You can use a product called Fray Check or burn the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying. I wasn’t overly concerned about fraying because I plan to decorate my tree with a summer theme at the beginning of June.
Tie the ribbon in a bow around the desired branch. I pushed the wired branch ends up a little bit so the ornaments would not slide off.
You’re all done! Wasn’t that easy? Now turn on your tree and watch it shine.
Blessings,
Kristie

Thanks, Mel. It was a perfect seasonal splash for my sunny little studio here in the South Carolina Lowcountry.
