Welcome to the 13th Little Cottage Link Party! I hope everyone had a great August so far. Our little homeschool starts tomorrow. I’m excited, but my 6th and 9th graders aren’t. That’s ok though, I have enough enthusiasm for all of us. To get things started, I created a Back to School Mantel Scape in our living room. Read the post, if you have the time.
The Little Cottage Link Party is open from Monday, 9am EST, through Wednesday, 9am EST. My goal for this link party is to help myself and others thrive in the home. I’ve spent the last two decades raising five homeschooled children in a beautiful little cottage in the South Carolina Lowcountry. In my opinion, the home is the most important place on earth. It doesn’t matter if you’re married, single, empty-nesting, or raising a large family-your home can still be a refreshing oasis of love and beauty to those who enter.
For the features this week, I chose the 3 most viewed, and a personal favorite. You can learn a lot as a blogger just by seeing what posts are the most viewed each week. The first one is a fun, easy recipe that sounds great for Back to School.
The second most viewed feature was a Christmas wreath post. Christmas crafts and decor are never out of season, because you need to get them ready in advance. There’s also a fall wreath in this post.
The third feature is a tale of a troubled beginning to a much anticipated trip. I had a similar experience when we took a Carnival cruise out of Charleston, SC. Someone had gotten sick on the previous cruise, so our boat was late. Thousands of passengers were trying to get on the Sunshine cruise boat in that tiny port. It took about 5 or 6 hours to board.
My personal feature Pick was made by a crafter after my own heart. Julie used a wood burning tool to make wooden IKEA coasters look like quilt blocks. I love to make things-that aren’t fabric-look like fabric, or fabric patterns.
