Welcome to our Coastal Woodland Christmas Home in the South Carolina Lowcountry! We live in an area that has “seas surrounded by trees.” The maritime forest is loaded with loblolly pine, red cedar, sweet gum. wax myrtle, and live oak trees. Red foxes, barred owls, raccoons, eastern gray squirrels, blue herons, egrets, and white-tailed deer live among the trees and ponds. The amount of deer, squirrel, and sea birds we see on a daily basis is amazing.
Let’s Start With the Coastal Woodland Christmas Tree

You don’t have to forego a woodland theme just because you live on the coast instead of in the mountains. Turquoise and vintage green items are sprinkled in with the berry red and white colors in our home to reflect the maritime vibe. The blues and greens separate coastal woodland from the deeper reds, greens, and browns of a northwoods or cabin decor theme. We bought the buffalo plaid and vintage green reindeer from Target several years ago, and found the glass cardinals, woodland houses, and mushroom ornaments at World Market. The wood chunk foxes and owls are available in my Etsy shop. My favorite part of the tree is the owl topper surrounded by frosted pinecone picks. Mrs. Claus needs to wrap some presents to go under that tree.
The Coastal Woodland Christmas Home Living Room

Our Lowcountry home is decorated with fur, santas, reindeer, bottlebrush trees, nativities, and family pictures of past Christmases. Vintage green and turquoise touches are sprinkled in and among the Christmas vignettes.
The living room, dining room, and kitchen are open-concept. The walls, cabinets, living room furniture and backsplash are in the taupe/gray family of color, so the berry reds and bluegreens really pop. Our new house is not painted as vibrantly as our little cottage was, but I have enjoyed adding color to the neutral background with pillows, blankets, signs, and knick knacks for each season. It’s like having a blank canvas that you can pair with any palette or style of accessories.

Outside on the Front Porch

Luckily the rocky river exterior of our home coordinates well with the bluegreens and berry reds. The Upcycled Lucy Goosey Christmas Porch Sign was a fun project. I love finding thrifted treasures and using them as holiday decor items.
The woodland wreath is perfect for a Coastal Woodland Christmas, and the live greenery baskets waft fresh pine goodness in the air as we go in and out of the front door.

Have a Merry Christmas Season!

It’s absolutely beautiful and I love every photo and vignette! Absolutely — woodland is wonderful. I live in the city and one of my trees is woodland and it crops up on more than a few of the others. And the mantel. It’s just a lovely feel. Your home is so delightfully festive. Happy December! Jeanie (from Marmelade Gypsy)
Thank you, Jeanie. I can’t wait to drop into your blog and see the woodland theme in your house!
Such a lovely home inside and out!! I love seeing you decorate everything.
Thanks, Joanne. It’s a shame that undecorating is not as fun as decorating!
Your home is super charming, I adore all the ornaments on your tree (especially those tiny mushrooms!) and the colors in your kitchen!
Thank you, Kim! The mushroom ornament is my favorite.
Your Christmas tree is beautifully decorated! I love your owl topper surrounded by pine cones. Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty.
Thanks, Allyson. I hope you’re having a Merry Christmas season.
