My Upstate South Carolina Cottage Painting was inspired by a house I saw over the weekend. I went to my daughter’s softball game in the Upstate last Saturday. On the way I saw a gorgeous little house surrounded by mature trees. The classic black and white colors and brick foundation won my heart- not to mention the craftsman-style pillars in front. Whenever I travel the rural roads and highways of South Carolina, I’m always on the lookout for quaint cottages with clotheslines, interesting architecture, weathered boards, gardens with staked tomatoes, and other yard kitsch. This is the 3rd painting in my Humble Abode Series. You can see the other paintings in this series below.
